I had a beautiful experience visiting the Giants Forest at the Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest over the weekend with Al. We meet two young girls visiting with their Grandmother. We visited as we walked toward the Giants trail. Al and I got a bit ahead of them as we crossed the bridge to see the first giant, Lil Nis. Crossing the bridge, the light was hitting this first sculpture perfectly to cast his reflection on the pond. I stopped to capture this image in a photo. Once I got to the description of the sculpture, I learned that is exactly what the sculptor, Thomas Dambo, intended.
Al and I reached Lil Nis before the girls and their Grandmother. While we were waiting our turn to get closer to Lil Nis, the youngest sister came up and handed me one of the hearts they had made and planned to leave behind. It was the sweetest gesture. They went on to tell me they had made it and wanted me to have that particular one as it had dogs all over it. They shared that they make these fabric hearts and place them for others to find. They remove the note attached when they give one directly to an individual.
Al and I did not complete the entire trail and I look forward to visiting again. It was such an inspiring place. I am inspired with so many new ideas for the land, gardens, and sculpture trail here at the Bell Buckle Mosaic House. The new installations I have brewing will have the perfect place to land.
Get out in nature and be inspired!
Best,
Lynn
